The Crow 04:12
Wind and a hard rain grey the blue A name carved into a stony clue The earthen ship has a lesser crew One more feather’s fallen Frosted bush and frozen flower Above the bell ushers in the hour Beneath the hoof prints spirits cower The crow is calling I know I’ll find you by the light of the moon. I know I’ll find you, I just don’t know how soon. The people have left though the fire’s still hot There’s no more life left in the lot The image gone but the memory’s not The crow has spoken You still see him sitting there Rocking in his favorite chair It’s plain to see by your empty stair Your heart is broken I know I’ll find you by the light of the moon. I know I’ll find you, I just don’t know how soon. I know I’m running, just as fast as I can go Trying to win, in a race against the crow Wind and a hard rain grey the blue A name carved into a stony clue The earthen ship has a lesser crew The crow is calling I know I’ll find you by the light of the moon. I know I’ll find you, I just don’t know how soon.

Can you believe the state of the union When everybody's at each other's throats Following things that are so subhuman Riding on each other's coats They always say they have a policy Throwing up veils hoping that we never see The true condition of a country in submission To a hungry politician making dangerous decisions We got to believe love will trump all We got to believe love will trump all We got to believe love will trump all Our only hope is to bern that big man down Before we improve the land we got to take the mirror And turn it on ourselves and be sincere Ask what you see if it loves what it sees How does it feel about her about him about me After all it takes us to have fame You got to ask who's really to blame Is it the tumor that lives in us that eventually will kill us Or doctor's hand that voted first to let it thrive within us We got to believe love will trump all We got to believe love will trump all We got to believe love will trump all Our only hope is to bern that big man down

Once Before 03:29
I feel I know this stranger very well Did he raise me? Or walk me to school? Help me tie my shoe? I don’t have a clue But I know that I’ve seen this man once before And I hope with not knowing anything of what’s in store That I’ll see this man once more I will see this man once more In his eyes I know he’s looking back Does he see me? Does he know my name? Does he want to say hello? And just doesn’t know If I am the man that he thinks that I am And if I can do what I know that I can Will I talk to this man? I will talk to this man Before I built up courage he was gone Not a second to stay or a word to say To the world or to the man, who reached out his hand But I know that I love him just the same as I did On that day when he left me all alone as a kid As a kid As a kid As a kid

We both feel a fire deep down inside One of ash and one of pride One night spent crying, the other spent high Keeping inside want we wanted Her smoke floats away but mine stays behind Both blinded now one of heart one of mind Reaching out wide for an answer to find But do I want it? Weeds grow in time On stones of all kind I’m saying weeds grow in time In between stones of all kind I can’t look for light if I can’t really see See through you or see through me It starts out as two but two leads to three I’m reaching for you I can’t shake the thought it’s the wrong kind of free Know what it ain’t and it ain’t from that tree Where it grows I’ll find eventually, But do I want to? Weeds grow in time On stones of all kind I’m saying weeds grow in time In between stones of all kind Respect is a thing often breathed out in time Lost in inhales, lost in whines Bought up with nickels then sold for dimes But can you blame them Cause you don’t need a reason if you don’t got a rhyme It’s nowhere in youth cause it don’t fit the times You can’t taste a fruit without breaking the rind But do you want to? Weeds grow in time On stones of all kind I’m saying weeds grow in time In between stones of all kind

Underdog 04:08
Let me inside, make me feel safe and warm ‘Cause it’s your being, the reason, that turns all my dreams to real And it’s in your eyes, I’ve surmised, I get the power to give all my dreams the right to feel Like they do now, you gave this boy a crown And it’s in your heart, your love that I see, me You gave your love to the underdog Now it’s me you’re fighting for Even when things seem to all go wrong You keep your love so pure, so pure Send me a sign, let me know when you’re near ‘Cause it’s in your light, shine bright, that I can live again And it’s not your way or my way, It’s our way that picks us up, brings us back to ourselves in the end So don’t you feel scared, no need to be aware Cause when you’re sleeping, dreaming you will see, me You gave your love to the underdog Now it’s me you’re fighting for Even when things seem to all go wrong You keep your love so pure, so pure We travel on, each winding way feels slower than before The years go on, each dwindling day feels like the days of yore I know when we said goodbye, both of us were faking And I know when both of us cry, its useless in blaming You gave your love to the underdog Now it’s me you’re fighting for Even when things seem to all go wrong You keep your love so pure, so pure

She Said 02:23
She said only time would tell If what was in her mind was well “If I can make it without you,” she said “Then surely I’ll be stronger for you,” she read, She read From the lilting written words on a tear stained page I see from her shaking hands That she meant well by her painful plans “I just need some time for my own way,” she said As her eyes filled with tears, as she read She read From the tattered notebook that she held so dear

Solitude 05:02
I know that I will live a life of solitude Because of who I am and who I know I’ll never be Oh, the faces seem so cold, and hard to talk to I know that I will always be the quite one Never one to yell or even make my presence known That is why I hide, behind a melody My voice has never found its way into the words I say out loud And so I lay them here to stay in the words that I write down A life of solitude again I know that I will always be a wanderer Never fitting in, neither here nor neither there The places seem so cold, and rather empty I’m like the book that’s lost up on the highest shelf Cause sometimes solitude can even hide me from myself But when I look inside, the pages will give me answers My voice has never found its way into the words I say out loud And so I lay them here to stay in the words that I write down A life of solitude again That is why I cry That is why I cry That is why I cry Behind this smile My voice has never found its way into the words I say out loud And so I lay them here to stay in the words that I write down A life of solitude again

Walking down a dusty road Heavy from the weight of lies I can feel the rain again When our brothers cry When our brothers cry When our brother’s cry I can feel the rain again When our brothers cry Hills to climb with guns in hand They’re always far too steep I can share the dreams they dream When our brothers sleep When our brothers sleep When our brother’s sleep I can share the dreams they dream When our brothers sleep Children laughing as they run Which one will realize I can see the hope my friends In our brothers’ eyes In our brothers’ eyes In our brothers’ eyes I can see the hope my friends In our brothers’ eyes Feel the bullet tear a hole Start the journey to the sky All is dark beneath the sun When our brothers die When our brothers die When our brothers die All is dark beneath sun When our brothers die We will feel the sun again When our brothers realize

about

As I was composing this album, I became enthralled in all of the many facets of solitude: physical solitude, emotional solitude, solitude by result of one's choosing versus that which is simply thrust upon you, how the desire for solitude is naturally inherent in some people more than others, the benefits of solitude versus its painful effects, both of which we may be blind to at first or we may never realize at all. As I kept writing poems and verses, I kept seeing these themes emerge. The act of growing these ideas and seeing them to fruition is what compelled me to name this debut album Solitude. Each track has an anchor in the world of solitude, some being more obvious than others...
